First foods- introducing solids

Babies grow at different rates and some may be ready to start solids at around four months, while others may wait until after six months. Whatever age your baby starts on solids, it’s important that the foods you choose are appropriate, nutritious and free from nasties.

When introducing solid foods for the first time, choose plain, simple foods like our organic baby rice and baby porridge. Pure, gentle and nutritious, these products are made from certified organic ingredients and can be used as a base when trialling new foods such as mashed banana, pumpkin and avocado.

Important Notice to Parents and Guardians

  • The World Health Organisation recommends that breastfeeding is best for your baby.
  • Having a balanced diet when breastfeeding is also important. Baby formulas should only be used after you’ve sought advice from a doctor or health practitioner.
  • A decision not to breastfeed can be difficult to reverse and introducing partial bottle feeding may reduce the supply of breast milk. It is also wise to consider the cost of infant formula.
  • If you use infant formula, all preparation and feeding instructions must be followed as per the manufacturer’s instructions. This is important for your baby’s health.
