Breast milk can help combat a family history of allergies such as asthma or eczema. Some babies are sensitive to gluten – a protein found in wheat, rye, oats and barley. It is recommended to avoid these foods until your baby is older – usually 7-8 months. Talk to your baby health professional regarding the best age to offer these ingredients to your baby. Honey should not be given before babies are 12 months No nuts or seeds (this includes peanut butter) Avoid eggs for babies under 7 months Avoid fish and shellfish for babies under 12 months
