  • Breast milk can help combat a family history of allergies such as asthma or eczema.
  • Some babies are sensitive to gluten – a protein found in wheat, rye, oats and barley. It is recommended to avoid these foods until your baby is older – usually 7-8 months. Talk to your baby health professional regarding the best age to offer these ingredients to your baby.
  • Honey should not be given before babies are 12 months
  • No nuts or seeds (this includes peanut butter)
  • Avoid eggs for babies under 7 months
  • Avoid fish and shellfish for babies under 12 months
