Frequently Asked Questions -
Introducing solid foods
|
World Health Organisation recommends breast milk as the best food for babies for the first six months of life. The decision to begin introducing solid foods to your baby before the age of 6 months should be made in consultation with your baby health professional. Introduction of solids is not recommended for babies under the age of 4 months because the digestive system is not mature enough. From 6 months, breast or infant milks alone will not meet all your baby’s nutritional needs. Look for the signs to determine when your baby is ready and then discuss with your baby health professional. Signs might include appearing still hungry after a milk feed, becoming more wakeful at night or watching with interest as you eat.
